About DaySafe

A developer-focused, zero-dependency TypeScript library engineered to eliminate timezone-induced date corruption, off-by-one errors, and bloated bundle overhead in modern web and server applications.

The Real-World Problem DaySafe Solves

In JavaScript, the native Date object does not represent a civil calendar date (such as a birthday, invoice date, or bank holiday). It represents a single specific instant in time (a Unix epoch millisecond) coupled with the execution environment's local timezone.

When a developer parses an ISO-8601 date string like "2026-11-04" with new Date("2026-11-04"), the runtime interprets it as UTC midnight. For users or servers located in western timezones (such as EST, CST, or PST), displaying that date formatted in local time immediately shifts the calendar date back to November 3rd.

Furthermore, standard month arithmetic in JavaScript suffers from silent overflow anomalies: adding one month to January 31st overflows into March 3rd in non-leap years. DaySafe was created to provide deterministic, timezone-invariant civil date operations where November 4th remains November 4th worldwide.

Architectural Principles

Zero Runtime Dependencies

DaySafe has zero runtime third-party dependencies. It will never expose your software to supply-chain attack vectors or version collisions.

Pure Integer Math

Operations execute as mathematical algorithms on Gregorian calendar integers. No Date instantiation, no locale mutation, and no DST distortion.

Branded TypeScript Types

Compile-time assurance with branded ISODateString types guarantees unvalidated strings cannot enter critical domain workflows.
